Updated: Sep 29

I have incredible memories of our kids’ birthday parties. One of my favorite memories is listening to my grandpa swoon over my baked beans! I can just hear him now. I miss him and think of him every time I make this yummy recipe.

Best Cowboy Bean Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. ground beef (cooked with the onion)

  • 1 lb. bacon fried and cut up (I often just use the bacon pieces)

  • 1 onion (dried onion flakes work well too!)

  • 2 large cans of baked beans

  • 1 can dark red kidney beans

  • 1 can light red kidney beans

  • 1 can Northern beans

  • 1 C. ketchup

  • ½ C. brown sugar

  • 1 TB liquid smoke (this makes the recipe shine! Don’t skip!)

  • 3 TB vinegar

  • 1 tsp. salt

  • Dash of pepper

Directions:

  1. Cook the ground beef with the onion until browned. Drain any excess grease.

  2. Combine all ingredients in a medium-sized crockpot.

  3. Cook on low heat for 4 hours, stirring occasionally.

  4. Serve and enjoy!

Whether it’s a birthday party or a potluck, these beans will be a hit. They’re easy to make, taste incredible and last for days. So next time you’re planning a gathering, whip up this family favorite and enjoy!

Until next time,
