It’s the day after Christmas and I’m sitting here thinking I’ve probably eaten one too many cookies. Yikes! While we try to eat as healthy as we can, you’d have to have the willpower of a brick wall in order to not eat some of these Christmas sweets!
So, here are some healthy breakfasts for us to get back on track, reset our systems and fuel our bodies to work for us. Whether you count calories, macros or carbs, these breakfast ideas should fit into your protocol!
These flavorful “muffins” are a great way to start your day. They are full of protein and veggies to kick your day off right. The best part of these muffins is that they can be made ahead of time and reheated for a quick bite. You can use different combinations for flavor, and they will land around 145 calories a piece.
We love overnight oats in our family. It’s an easy and delicious way to prepare breakfast ahead of time for an active family. Oatmeal is a family favorite. It’s warm (or cold!) and keeps us sustained until lunch time. This prevents over snacking and keeps us on track!
These happen to be my husband’s favorite! These can also be made ahead and reheated for a heartier, yet healthy, breakfast. But, in my opinion, they taste better when eaten fresh. These burritos will keep you full and fuel your body to work like it’s meant to.
Eating healthy doesn’t have to be hard or even boring. In fact, I’ve found that when I’m cutting out refined sugars, eventually I don’t even crave them. Food is such a big part of our culture. You can’t go anywhere without the focus being on eating something. I heard some really good advice one time. We eat to live; we don’t live to eat. Everything in moderation, right?
Wherever you land on your health journey, just know you’re worth fighting for! Your family and friends want you around for a long time. Eating healthy will bring you confidence and courage to face your days. It will make us feel better, think clearer and allow us to keep up with our kids and grandkids!
I’m not much of a New Year’s resolution person, but I do like to take the opportunity to use this time to reset. I pray you had a wonderful Christmas and look forward to what the next year will bring!
Until next time,
